Argon spectrum

Argon

Gaseous argon is odorless, colorless and tasteless. It is non-toxic, non-flammable and is denser than air. Argon has low thermal conductivity, liquefies at –186°C and solidifies at –189.40°C (under normal pressure.)

Argon Application Areas

Argon, known as "the big A" of industrial gas business, sees a wide range of applications in the following areas:

  • in metallurgy for alloy refining, preventing molten metal from coming into contact with oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide
  • in mechanical engineering as shielding gas in various welding processes, e.g. gas metal arc welding
  • in chemical industry for high-purity substances production
  • in scientific research for analyzing purity of materials, in electronics, etc.
